Meta Muse Review 2026: AI Agent, Pricing & Muse Spark

Meta Muse is worth trying if you want an AI to work through everyday errands, rather than stop at giving advice. Its appeal is a persistent personal agent with a browser, connected services and an activity history. The important question is whether it finishes your particular task accurately enough to save more time than you spend checking it.

Muse Agent · Meta Model API

What is Meta Muse—and who should try it?

Muse Agent is the consumer application. Muse Spark is the reasoning model family behind it; Muse Code is a separate coding product. Buying agent usage does not buy Spark API credits or a Muse Code subscription. Meta identifies Spark as the agent’s foundation, but the launch announcement does not promise that every agent session exposes a selectable Spark 1.3 backend.

Our recommendation: start free with research, comparison tables or drafts. Upgrade only after several repeatable tasks justify it. It is less attractive if you require guaranteed autonomous completion, self-hosting, or confirmed availability in every country. The launch began in the US, and the current help page still describes limited testing and account/region-dependent access. A translated website is not proof of local availability.

What Muse can actually do

A dedicated cloud computer lets Muse browse sites, work with files and use authorized connections. It can continue a task after you leave the app. The design adds editable memory, ongoing goals and an activity view, so you can inspect what the assistant has been doing instead of judging it only by its final message.

For shopping, the useful output is a verified shortlist with exact models, stock, delivery costs and return terms. For email, it is a summary and an appropriate draft. For travel, it is a feasible itinerary with booking conditions. These are good first assignments because the evidence is inspectable before you commit.

Muse can also produce documents, PDFs, web pages and trackers. Its Goals area is intended for work extending beyond one conversation. Our practical caveat: a plan, a prepared form and a completed transaction are three different states. Check the activity history and the actual destination service before treating a task as finished.

How to start: a small, reviewable task

  1. Open muse.ai from Meta’s official announcement, sign in with your Meta account and check whether access is available. Use the official links for mobile apps; similarly named apps are not necessarily Meta’s product. You can also use supported WhatsApp access. Start without connecting every account.
  2. Give one outcome, a deadline, a scope and an approval boundary. If the task needs email or another service, connect only that service and review the permissions shown. Keep the first attempt to reading, research or drafting. The prompts below are suggested starting points, not records of a completed hands-on test.
  3. Inspect the activity view by opening the avatar, review source links and check the resulting file or draft. If the task stalls on a login, blocked page or missing detail, supply that specific input. Before accepting a purchase or outgoing message, review the recipient, total cost, delivery details and commitments.
  4. After two or three tasks, inspect Settings → Usage. Note how much of your allowance was consumed, how long you waited and how much correction was needed. This tells you more about value than a single impressive demo.

Shopping research

Find three in-stock options for [exact item] delivered to [location]. Compare total price, seller, returns and delivery date. Cite each listing and flag anything unverified. Do not purchase or contact sellers.

Email follow-up

Review only [selected thread/date range]. Separate confirmed deadlines from requests. Draft a short reply without promising work I have not approved. Do not send, archive or change labels.

An ongoing goal

Help me plan [goal] by [date]. Propose milestones and a weekly check-in. Ask before enabling recurring work or contacting anyone. Explain what you will monitor and how I can stop it.

Free, Power and Maximum: what does Muse cost?

Muse has a free tier with a usage limit. Meta lists Power at US$20 per month for 500 million Muse tokens per week and Maximum at US$100 per month for 3 billion per week. Subscriptions renew monthly. Check the offer displayed for your account before paying; taxes, eligibility and available benefits can differ.

Do not translate these allowances into a fixed number of emails or bookings. Browsing, retries and long tasks vary in cost, and agent allowances should not be equated with the separately billed Spark API tokens. When free usage is exhausted, the help page says you can wait for it to refresh or upgrade.

The upgrade path is Menu → Settings → Usage → Upgrade. Manage the subscription on the platform where you purchased it. Our value test is simple: count completed useful tasks and the time spent reviewing them, then compare that benefit with the monthly fee. A paid tier raises capacity; it does not guarantee correctness.

Muse Spark 1.3: improvements, API and local use

Spark 1.3 was announced on September 2. Meta emphasizes sustained agent work, coding, instruction following and more concise execution. Its internal comparison with 1.2 reports roughly 20% fewer tool calls and 25% fewer tokens. These are vendor measurements, not a guarantee that your workflow becomes 25% cheaper or finishes faster.

Developers can use Meta Model API or the verified OpenRouter listing for meta/muse-spark-1.3. The latter lists an approximately one-million-token context window and warns that audio understanding is not fully supported there. Provider capabilities and policies must be checked separately. Neither API automatically supplies the consumer agent’s personal VM, memory or connected accounts.

Meta’s Standard API price per million tokens is US$1.25 input, US$0.15 cached input and US$4.25 output. Contributor is US$0.10 input, US$0.002 cached input and US$0.20 output, in exchange for allowing prompts and completions to train future Meta models. Standard does not use those prompts and completions for training. This is a material data-use difference, not merely a coupon.

For an illustrative request using 100,000 uncached input tokens and 10,000 output tokens, the token charge is US$0.1675 on Standard or US$0.012 on Contributor, before search and other charges. Meta separately lists web search grounding at US$2.50 per 1,000 queries. Spark 1.3 weights were not offered for download in its release announcement; future open-weight plans are not a current local-install option.

What independent reviewers and users found

Tom’s Guide’s September 26 shopping test reported useful results from three of seven prompt types. Exact-item comparison and used-item searches helped; other requests produced unreliable or empty results. This is one reviewer’s small task set, not a universal success rate.

TechRadar’s September 24 savings experiment found about US$35 in useful monthly savings rather than the promoted US$1,000 target. The author checked recommendations before acting. The lesson is workload fit: an already tidy subscription list offers less room for savings.

On r/MetaAI, one user described using Muse for inbox, cloud documents and forms. Replies raised trust concerns and access/waitlist issues. These anecdotes show what people try, but do not establish reliability, security incidents or representative satisfaction.

Our assessment: the strongest reason to try Muse is reducing tedious research and administration. The weakest reason is expecting every website to cooperate or every proposed action to be correct. Keep a short log of successful tasks, corrections and failures during your free trial.

Muse vs ChatGPT Work and Claude Cowork

Choose by the work you need to hand off. All three products can go beyond text chat, so “it uses a browser” is no longer a sufficient reason to choose Muse. The comparison below is a workflow assessment based on each provider’s documentation, not a benchmark leaderboard.

Muse is compelling for a continuous personal assistant and everyday errands. ChatGPT Work is worth comparing for scoped research and deliverables across files and approved websites; its cloud work can continue after you leave. Claude Cowork is a strong candidate for projects centered on working folders, documents and connected workplace tools. Access, integrations and plan limits vary.

For model selection, Spark’s lower Contributor price may suit non-confidential experiments, while a document-heavy or visual task deserves a direct comparison using the same input and success criteria. Do not compare an API token price with a consumer subscription and call one universally cheaper.

Product Best starting task What to verify
Muse Agent Personal errands and ongoing goals Region, permissions, actual completion and weekly usage
ChatGPT Work Research and reviewable files across approved tools Plan, workspace controls and website access
Claude Cowork Document and folder-based workplace projects Desktop setup, folder access and connectors

Privacy, approvals and NSFW support

Meta describes an isolated Secure VM and a separate Sentinel component that checks interactions. Users can inspect activity and control connections. The launch also says Muse conversations and VM data are not shared with Meta’s ad systems, and offers an option to opt out of using interactions for training. These statements do not mean no cloud processing takes place.

The stronger Confidential VM was described at launch as planned for later in 2026. Do not assume that promise is already enabled on your account. A malicious webpage or email can still try to misdirect an agent; Meta’s own safety discussion recognizes that agent security remains an evolving problem.

NSFW: we could not verify a Muse-specific promise of unrestricted adult content or an uncensored mode. Meta’s subscription help links to its Community Standards and Muse terms. Therefore, do not choose Muse on an assumption that explicit sexual generation is supported. An adult eligibility requirement is not an NSFW feature.

For practical use, begin with narrow permissions, review memory and revoke unused connections. Drafting can be useful without giving standing approval to send messages, make purchases or cancel services.

Frequently asked questions

Is Meta Muse free?

Yes, within a usage allowance. Power and Maximum increase capacity; check the usage screen and current account offer.

Can I use it outside the US?

The launch started in the US. Current subscription documentation describes limited availability without guaranteeing every country. Check your account before subscribing or planning a workflow around it.

Is Muse Spark the same as Muse Agent?

No. Spark is a model family; the agent adds tools, connections, memory and an execution environment. API access does not recreate all those features.

Can I download Muse Spark 1.3?

The release announcement does not provide weights for local deployment. Do not confuse a different open model in the Muse family with Spark 1.3.

Can Muse send emails or buy things?

Those are supported agent use cases with permissions and approval controls. A drafted message or prepared checkout is not proof that the action completed.

Is it worth paying for?

Try several recurring tasks on the free allowance first. Pay for additional capacity only when the verified outcomes outweigh the subscription and review time.

Our verdict: Muse is a promising personal agent for bounded, checkable work. Start with research and drafts, judge the actual outcomes, and expand its permissions only when the benefit is clear.

This review focuses on the Muse Agent announced on September 8, 2026, with Muse Spark 1.3 as the model background. Information checked September 29, 2026. Our assessment combines official documentation with attributed media and community reports; it is not a claim that we personally tested purchases or connected a private inbox.
