Frequently Asked Questions

Get quick answers about our free online Markdown viewer.

Is this Markdown reader completely free?

Yes. Opening, reading, searching and editing are free, with no account, credits or daily quota. The 2 MB document limit helps keep the browser responsive.

Are my files uploaded?

No. This tool reads and renders document text in your browser. It does not upload the document or send its text to a processing service. The surrounding website still uses its normal site resources and cookie settings.

Which Markdown features are supported?

Common Markdown plus tables, strikethrough, task lists, footnotes and highlighted code blocks. Raw HTML is shown as text; formulas, Mermaid diagrams, MDX components and other extension-specific syntax are not rendered.

Why are images not displayed?

Images are blocked to avoid automatic requests to external image hosts. A single Markdown file also does not grant access to nearby images on your computer. Image descriptions remain visible as placeholders.

Can I view or edit the Markdown source?

Yes. Open Reading settings to switch between preview, split view and source. Edits stay in this browser page only; use your browser’s text selection and copy commands to keep any changes.

Will my edits still be here after refreshing?

No. Refreshing or closing the page clears the document and any edits. The original file on your device is never modified. Keep any source changes you need before leaving.
